Registration for: Friday 4:30 PM Pawn Class at Elliot and McClintock
How PCC Works
- 5 levels: Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, Queen
- 30 skills per level – students must master all skills to graduate to the next level
- Coaches track progress using our PCC skill charts
- Each class: 30 minutes of lesson + 30 minutes of testing on that day’s topic
- Families get the thoroughness of a private lesson with the price and social benefits of a small group
The first step is a one-on-one assessment with a coach. In this 60-minute session, the coach will:
- Determine which PCC level (Pawn–Queen) is the best fit
- Identify which of the 30 skills in that level your child has already mastered
- Recommend the right class time and path forward
Level Themes
- Pawn – learning how to play chess, piece moves & basic rules
- Knight – tactics, basic strategies, and checkmates
- Bishop – intermediate tactics, combining tactics, intro positional play & endgames
- Rook – basic positional play, advanced tactics, intermediate endgames
- Queen – advanced positional play & advanced endgames
