The Chess Emporium

This supergroup is specifically designed to not only help your kids better understand chess but also to learn how to prepare for playing against specific opponents in future matches. In this class, your child will learn how to research opponents’ games, review them, and develop strategies and ideas for openings that their opponents frequently use.
Here is the format
Each of the ten kids will participate in a USCF-rated 6-game match against each other, playing three games as white and three as black.
The time control for the matches will be G/60 d5, and game analysis will immediately follow the matches. The total duration of the supergroup session will be three hours—two for playing and one for game analysis. If the games finish early, there will be more time for analysis.
If a player cannot attend a scheduled game due to conflicts, sickness, etc., they must inform me and arrange a rescheduled match with their opponent. Make-up games must be scheduled within ten days at the Tempe Chess Emporium or risk forfeiture of that game.
Matches will be arranged by Coach Joe to ensure a fair and competitive environment. According to USCF rules, no player will face an opponent with a rating difference greater than 400 points or with a provisional rating.
DATE AND TIME
Matches will start on Sunday, May 12th, and will run for six consecutive weeks every Sunday from 5 PM to 8 PM. Anyone late to their match will have their clock started if their opponent is on time.
There will be a break during the weekend of June 7-9th due to the National Open in Las Vegas, Nevada and the matches will resume afterward.
The goal of this supergroup is to teach the kids how to study independently and to experience what it's like to play in a match against a specific opponent. This will enhance their knowledge of not only the openings they play but also those they face and will encounter in the future.
