Winter Break Chess Camps

Fun, structured chess camps for beginner to early-intermediate students (approximately 100–800 USCF) at our Scottsdale and Tempe locations.

Camps provide a positive environment where students build friendships, strengthen their minds through fun learning, and enjoy a healthy alternative to endless holiday screen time.

Camp Weeks

  • Week 1: Monday–Friday, Dec 22nd–26th
  • Week 2: Monday–Friday, Dec 29th–Jan 2nd

Camps run Monday–Friday at both Scottsdale and Tempe.

Flexible Camp Packages

Camps are available in 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-day packages. For each package, you may choose any combination of days within a camp week.

  • Example (3-day camp): Mon–Wed, Wed–Fri, or Mon/Tue/Thu
  • Example (4-day camp): Mon–Thu or Tue–Fri
  • Any package can be spread across multiple weeks. To arrange this, please call 602-482-4867.

Common Questions

Will my student get tired from playing chess all day?
No. Our camps include plenty of movement breaks, snack breaks, and free-play time to balance thinking with physical activity. The chess activities between breaks are fun, engaging, and age-appropriate, which keeps most students energized throughout the day.

Is lunch provided?
Lunch is not provided. Please pack a lunch and a couple of snacks for your student each day.

What grade levels participate in these camps?
Most students fall between Kindergarten and 6th grade, but we happily welcome all students K–12 who are excited to learn and play chess.

My student is a beginner — do they know enough for these camps?
Yes. As long as your student knows how each chess piece moves, they have all the foundational knowledge needed to enjoy and succeed in camp.

What if my student cannot attend a specific day or becomes sick?
We can reschedule at no extra charge as long as you notify us before the missed day. If your student is sick, simply give us a call that morning — we are more than happy to move them to another camp day or provide full credit toward future camps or classes.
