Make a direct impact

Lesson support provided

Coaches receive structure and guidance so clubs stay engaging, organized, and appropriate for each student level.

About the role

Chess Club Coaches lead groups of students in after-school chess clubs. Coaches introduce chess concepts, supervise play, encourage good sportsmanship, and create a positive environment where beginners and experienced students can grow.

Our programs serve a wide range of students, from brand-new players learning how the pieces move to advanced students preparing for stronger competition.

  • Friendly, patient, dependable, and professional.
  • Able to explain ideas clearly to beginner and intermediate players.
  • Prior coaching, teaching, tutoring, camp, or youth leadership experience is helpful.
  • Tournament experience is a plus, but not required for every club.
  • Reliable transportation to school club locations is preferred.
